Spring 2025 Auditions

Play it Straight

When: 12/8/2024 6:00 – 10:00 and 12/10/2024 6:00 – 10:00
Callbacks: If needed – 12/11 2025 and 1/22/2025 6:00-10:00 and 1/23/2025 6:00-10:00

Where: The Art Court Theatre at Sacramento City College.
What: Auditions will consist of readings of sides from the script.

For the auditions, please bring:

  • Theatre/performance resume if you have one,
  • Headshot if you have one, and
  • Any conflicts you may have for the rehearsal and performance schedule.

Rehearsals: First read-through – Jan. 25, 1:00 – 3:30pm. Rehearsals 6:00 -10:00pm, Sundays – Thursdays 1/26-2/20.

Tech and Dress:

  • Saturday, Feb. 22 – 10:00 am – 10:00 pm, Tech
  • Monday – Thursday, Feb. 24 – 27, 6:00 – 10:30 pm, Dress Rehearsal

Performances: Feb. 28 – Mar. 16 Thur/Fri/Sat at 7:30 pm, Sun at 2:00 pm.

About the play:

Drama teacher Mr. Ross finds himself on the front line of the culture wars, as he, his students, and school administrators grapple with a new district mandate which requires the school to ‘out’ a gay student to her conservative Christian father. Can Ross walk the ethical tightrope between supporting his students, and keeping his job?

Additional Information:

All who are cast in the play will be required to register for a minimum of 1 unit in our TAP production class. Enrolling early does not guarantee a part in the play.

She Kills Monsters

When: Friday, February 7, 2025, at 5:00 – 7:00 pm and Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 12:00 – 2:00 pm.
Callbacks: Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 12:00 pm.

Where: The Art Court Theatre at Sacramento City College.
What: Auditions will consist of readings of sides from the She Kills Monsters script. She Kills Monsters audition sides will be available here in the Spring 2025 semester.

    About the Play

    An adventurous quest awaits! She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she packs up her childhood home after the death of her younger sister, Tilly, and her parents. When she finds Tilly’s Dungeons and Dragons notebook, Agnes is transported into a journey of discovery and a world of fantasy and adventure. Learning more about her younger sister, Agnes meets elves, bugbears, and other fantastical beings while connecting with people Tilly loved. This action-packed dramatic comedy is full of kick-butt fairies, nasty succubus, energetic 1990s pop culture, and, most importantly, living life to the
    fullest. Acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen’s She Kills Monsters celebrates the inner geek and warrior in us all.
