Fall 1: The Cripple of Inishmaan

When: Tuesday, July 22, 2025 and August 26 & 27, 2025, at 7:00 pm.
Callbacks: TBA if needed
Where: The Art Court Theatre at Sacramento City College.
What: Auditions will consist of readings of sides from the script.

Rehearsals: August 28 – September 26, Mondays – Fridays from 7:00 – 10:30 pm.
Tech and dress
- Sept. 27 – Saturday, 10 am – 9 pm
- Sept. 29– Monday, 6 pm – 11 pm
- Sept. 30 – Tuesday, 6 pm – 11 pm
- Oct. 1 – Wednesday, 6 pm – 11 pm
- Oct 2 – Thursday, 6 pm – 11 pm
- Brush up rehearsal is May 7 from 6 – 11 pm.
Performances: Oct. 3 – 19, 2025; Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 pm (Oct. 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, & 18; Sundays at 2:00 pm (Oct. 5, 12, & 19)
About the Play
Set in 1934 on Ireland’s remote island of Inishmaan, Martin McDonagh’s The Cripple of Inishmaan follows Billy Claven, a disabled orphan longing to escape the cruelty and monotony of village life. When a Hollywood crew arrives on a neighboring island to film Man of Aran, Billy lies about having tuberculosis to join the journey, hoping for fame—or at least freedom. What unfolds is a darkly comic tale of deception, longing, and belonging, as Billy returns home with both a bruised body and battered heart, uncovering buried truths and chasing a sliver of hope in a world that rarely shows kindness.
Additional Information:
All who are cast in the play will be required to register for a minimum of 1 unit in our TAP production class. Enrolling early does not guarantee a part in the play.
People of all genders, cultures, races, ages, abilities, and identities are encouraged to audition.
